Baubles, Bangles and Beads

I found the following video made to the soundtrack of Baubles, Bangles and Beads, by the Brazilian jazz pianist – and vocalist as it turns out – Eliane Elias.

When i was studying years back in Wollongong, i remember going to the library in town where i could listen to an album of Eliane, which helped me get through that time.

Probably not the top pick for students of the day (and i guess still wouldn’t be).

It was entirely instrumental and there was one track in particular that really captivated me, a version of the pop song, Through The Fire. I was engrossed by that track, and listened to it repeatedly.

As the album was instrumental, and the only other album i’ve heard of Eliane was also instrumental, i was surprised to hear her sing. Maybe, like other pianists, she was persuaded to start singing on the theory it would increase her popularity.

As to the video, it has little to do with the lyrics of the song, but it’s amusing in its relentless fascination with the girl in the video.

She’s undoubtedly cute, but Mualchon, who explains in the comments that it’s his first music video, makes no effort whatsoever to relate it to the lyrics or restrain his enthusiasm for his subject.

Ha, ha, Mualchon, nice work!
